May – European Diversity Month

May 2022 is the Diversity Month in the Czech Republic as well as across Europe. The aim and purpose of the European Diversity Month is to link Diversity Charter related activities taking place across Europe, build connections between small and large employers as well as private businesses and public administration institutions and local governments. The European Diversity Month also aims to promote, develop and disseminate diversity and inclusive values and programmes in the labour market, at workplaces, in communities and in society as a whole.

The leitmotif of the European Diversity Month 2022 supported by the European Commission and DG Justice is “Building Bridges”, this means building bridges between businesses and communities, private and public sector, local governments, at workplaces, between generations at work etc.

Recent events have demonstrated that none of us can stand aside now. Responsible business can effectively help defend the values of humanity. We are witnessing an aggressive war of conquest against Ukrainian people – men, women, mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, young people, children, ill and vulnerable people, indeed against everyone . This aggression also targets our shared democratic values. Values must not only be promoted, but also defended when necessary!

The European Diversity Month will be an opportunity to show our solidarity with the brave people of Ukraine and to demonstrate our will to promote and defend fundamental democratic values! We are going to focus on the planned topics: how businesses – the signatories of the Diversity Charter – promote and develop diversity and inclusion related activities, new programmes, how they can set latest trends in the labour market and prepare for the future of work leaning on the pillars of diversity and inclusion. We will not forget about Ukrainian families that are and will be coming to the Czech Republic fleeing the Russian aggression either. The European Diversity Month will also discuss their support and full integration in the Czech labour market and integration of their families into the Czech society, as this has now become part of our bridge building efforts too!

We are using this opportunity to call on all the Diversity Charter signatories, Business for Society member companies as well as all the other businesses and employers to get involved in the activities of the European Diversity Month 2022, and join numbers of other businesses and organisations across Europe organising and coordinating all sorts of events, activities, training sessions, campaigns, diversity and inclusion at work awareness programmes, awareness building campaigns and activities to support men, women and children of  brave Ukraine!
