Czech Republic on the road to circularity: backup contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions
According to recent data from the European Environment Agency (EEA), the consumption and production of plastics is negatively affecting the environment and accelerating climate change. For example, the packaging and construction sectors consumed more than half of Europe's plastics in 2020.

The Alliance of Responsible Businesses Business for Society organized a unique debate on the topic of the circular economy in the Czech Republic at the Malostranská beseda. Specifically on the upcoming amendment to the Packaging Act, which should introduce a backup system for PET bottles and cans. The Czech Republic would thus join the 16 European countries where the system is already in place. In 12 other countries, its introduction is currently under preparation.

On Tuesday, 26 September, a unique debate will take place at the headquarters of the European Commission Representation in the Czech Republic with four Scandinavian ambassadors to the Czech Republic, who will debate and discuss the current trends and priorities of the circular economy in the Scandinavian countries as well as the context of the "Green Deal for Europe". The European perspective will be added by a representative of the EC Representation in the Czech Republic.
