The Ministry of the Environment has prepared a new bill on the deposit system for PET bottles and cans, which represents a significant innovation of the circular economy in the Czech Republic. On February 28, a debate with experts on this topic will take place at the Malostranská beseda in Prague.
Business for Society addressed the circular economy topics including the deposit system last year. We encourage you watching the video with Ambassador of Denmark to the Czech Republic, H.E. Søren Kelstrup and Ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Fredrik Jorgensen.
"In Denmark, we have had a deposit system for bottles since 1942 and since 2002 we have included plastic bottles. It is a system that is still growing. The reuse of materials has been discussed in the Nordic countries for a long time. Last year, every Dane threw out eight kilo of waste - we are one of the countries in the world which has mos garbage, most waste per person. The Danish government is very well aware of this . . . we need to be better in reusing resources," says H.E. Søren Kelstrup, Danish Ambassador to the Czech republic.
